he annual celebration of London’s wonderful cocktail scene returns for its 2022 edition next month, with more than 300 bars getting in on the act.

Whether you’re wild for whisky, mad for mezcal or sold on sake, there’s something to please pretty much all palates across this year’s programme, which ranges from masterclasses and food-pairing sessions, to club nights and bouquet-making workshops.

To make the most of the week (which actually runs for 11 days from October 13-23), buy yourself a wristband; check out our full guide for more information on that.

Here, we’ve picked out 10 of the best events taking place as part of London Cocktail Wake. Who else is feeling thirsty?

Grab a £7 cocktail

Handout

Wristband-wearing drinkers can wander into any of the hundreds of bars taking part in 2022 and claim a specially created cocktail for £7. There are some top spots involved — Amaro, Black Rock, Happiness Forgets, Homeboy, KOL Mezcaleria, Nightjar, to name a few — and, unless you’re an intrepid drinker, probably plenty of bars you’ve never been to. Time to get exploring.

Hacha Brixton’s First Birthday sponsored by Patron

If you haven’t had a mezcal cocktail in a London bar recently, you haven’t been going to the right places — the Mexican spirit is quickly becoming the must-drink choice in the capital. This Brixton spot specialises in the stuff (as well as its agave accomplice, tequila) and will be celebrating its first birthday with a big bash. Tickets include three cocktails and tacos, with DJs spinning Mexican vinyl for the evening. Naturally, there’ll be a piñata, too.

£30, 7pm-12am, October 13, 12 Market Row, London, SW9 8LD, buy tickets here

Publiq. x Volcan Tequila Supper Club

Kensington restaurant Publiq. will team up with tequila maker Volcan for this five-course food-pairing feast. It’s a nose-to-tail arrangement, using every part of the animal to cut down on food waste, and each dish will be accompanied by a specifically crafted tequila cocktail.

£75, 7pm-10.30pm, October 13, 1D Palace Gate, W8 5LS, buy tickets here

Sound of Speyside

If a long trip north to Scotland isn’t especially doable, then head along to this Spitalfields bar and recreate the whisky country vibes in Zone One. For four October nights, Milroy’s will host live acoustic sets and serve up drams of Craigellachie whisky, each one paired with charcuterie. Prizes, such as a rare Craigellachie expression, are up for grabs for those taking a spin on “Share the Rare” wheel, too.

Free entry, 7pm-10pm, October 14, 15, 21, 22, more info here

The World’s Most Rubbish Disco

Handout

Don’t let the name trigger any bad memories of having to do the Cha-Cha Slide at your school disco — this event down at Nine Lives in Bermondsey should be a blast. The “rubbish” in the name refers to the special cocktail on offer, which uses the Banana Peel Rum created by Discarded Spirits, who create drinks out of otherwise wasted ingredients. Expect DJs spinning disco tracks, a vintage dress-up swap shop and a charity auction on the night.

Free entry (reservations available), 5pm-3am, October 14, 8 Holyrood Street, SE1 2EL, reserve here

Barrels and Bees

Anything that involves eating lots of honey is onto a winner, and when it’s paired with plenty of Scottish whisky, the deal gets even sweeter. Highland distillery Aberfeldy will bring down three of its best bottles — the 12, 16 and 21-year-olds — and pair them with different types of London-made honey, before finishing with a Gold Fashioned cocktail (that’s an old fashioned made with Aberfeldy 12, honey syrup, Angostura bitters and orange bitters).

£15, 5.30pm-7pm, October 18, Christina’s, 45 Curtain Road, EC2A 3PT, buy tickets here

Visit the Little Cocktail Villages

A new addition to the 2022 programme, four Little Cocktail Villages will emerge for the duration of the London Cocktail Week. Each one will house pop-up cocktail bars, with plenty of £7 offerings to choose from — head down to Belgravia, Borough Yards, Covent Garden and Devonshire Square to check them out.

Free entry, October 13-23, various locations, more info here

Five Rivers Diwali Bar

One of the highlights of the Little Cocktail Villages is this pop-up in Devonshire Square, hosted by Five Rivers. The distillery, which proudly claims to make the world’s first dry Indian spiced rum, will be running its Diwali Bar, with cocktails ranging from a saffron negroni to the so-called Punjabi Punch.

Free entry, October 13-16, 18-23, Devonshire Square, EC2M 4YE, more info here

Make Your Spritz Bloom

Liqueur brand St-Germain will collaborate with London florist June in March for this two-part workshop. Guests will first learn how to make a St-Germain Spritz (hint: it’s the elderflower liqueur with sparkling wine, sparkling water and lemon) before making their own bouquets.

£20, 6.45pm-8pm, October 14, Market Halls Oxford Street, 9 Holles Street, W1G 0BD, buy tickets here

Sake, Shochu and Awamori: The Magic of Koji with Francesco Braun

Bartender Francesco Braun will lead this masterclass, focusing on three classic Japanese spirits — sake, shochu and awamori — and using them to create three different cocktails. Taking place within the intimate Omakase Room at The Aubrey, guests will also be treated to some Japanese snacks along the way.

£15, 6-7pm, October 19, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Hyde Park, 66 Knightsbridge, SW1X 7LA, buy tickets here
